I was wondering when you were going to post about your Italy trip. It was worth the wait!!! When I came back from Italy, no one could understand how I could eat that much gellato, but once you try it, you just can't get enough! Yum! Your trip sounded fabulous, I'm so jealous!

The one downside of a smoking ban is that there is nothing to cover smells eminating from your butt, so you have to keep 'em in at the pub. Not that I would ever fart in public.

I WAS the pushy one, but now that for whatever reason I can't even read your blog at work, I don't notice the lack of blogging so much. BUT, at least twice a day do I attempt to access the website, just in case it might work that time. I agree with Dad McNeil, having this blog has definitely helped in the missing you department.

Great Blog Tiffany! Just for fun: Download Audacity (freeware for Mac) and record some audio to post on your blog.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

You could play your keyboard and sing for us: "My voice is hot, so tastefully hot."

While reading this new blog entry I decided to count the number of times I check McNeilorama each day looking for a new entry. It must be at least 5 times at day. Maybe it's six or seven on slow days. How many times before it becomes excessive? Do you get my point? The McNeilorama blog entries have made these two years without Andy and Tiffany near by much more bearable than it would have been without. The fact that the frequency of blog entries has dwindled is understandable but regrettable. I would like to suggest that you blog photo's of some of the great trips that you have taken and not blogged about. We would enjoy a narrative but if time is too precious, you can just let us look at great photo's of you guys and the places you have visited.

Prague sounds so cool! Did you tell Papa you were going so that he could tell you the obligatory “There was a movie made there (can’t remember what it was called) but I had been in all of the buildings and I remember blah blah blah Prague” story? Well when you do speak with him, I think the movie is Mission Impossible 2.
On another note, you used the word "suchlike" twice.

"Oh my goodness, thank you so much. Wow. There are so many people to thank, where do I begin? First off, thanks to Tiffany & Andy who are just amazing; wonderful friends, incredible hosts, and two people that create wonderful things in the kitchen. I'd also like to thank God & Richard Branson for six safe flights to date. STOP THE MUSIC, I'm not done. And finally, to my department for responding "ok" to "hey, I just booked a flight. Mind if I take off that week?"

I am so humbled by this award. I'm just kidding. I'm the best visitor and my award awaits me in Flat A next to Tiff & Andy's wedding picture because they are of equal importance. Thank you and good night."

Thanks again for having me, you guys are AWESOME. See you in a few months for a few years. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hmmm, great story about the bed bugs. I haven't noticed anything in my bed but this has certainly motivated me to do laundry tomorrow (interesting that the fact that I'm out of socks and under things hasn't pushed me). Anyway, glad you guys posted and I loved the hiking pix. See you in a couple weeks (booked my flight today)! (wow, i feel itchy)

Well this is why parenting is so much fun....you never get to an end.....it's all journey.... A true pleasure it was to tag these two guys with something they had no reference for (panto) and then nudge them into thinking about it, after haveing tacitly avoided it (because they had no frame of reference)...and then when we take a look at what is playing in London Pantomime this year they find THE FONZE....funny anyway...as CAPT HOOK...hysterical just in concept. All the rest was of course laughs.

For me, the added bonus of a gift from parent to child of a missing piece of the jigsaw of her growing up...an English jigsaw piece. It was a great pleasure to throw it in there and see it take its place. There is not another kids audience participation forum like Panto. I wonder what will be playing next year........

There was a point in this one where all three of us were laughing so hard that it was difficult to breathe, and where there was no likely probable end to a wild comedic improvisation that developed on stage. Tears were streaming. All the adults were near collapse with mirth. Can I tell you about it...yes and it would lose the build impact and timing in description. You just had to be there to experience it. Panto is like that.

Also Capitain Hook sings and dances a mean Happy Days routine with the whole cast. It's not everyday stuff.

You guys are so cute. Great effort on the Thanksgiving dinner, I'm sorry it didn't come out so well, but let's be honest, the best part of the meal are the side dishes, so if you're gonna ruin something you might as well ruin the not-best-part.

Aw! i'm so sorry some of the goodies were ruined but at least the mac and cheese was ok. Also, I was glad to see that the oven disaster didn't destroy your mood so you were still able to sketch a true-to-life turkey.

I like the fact that you used your neighbors' recycling bins! "Do what you have to do."
This brings to mind -- My brother lives in a brownstone in Brooklyn. Every brownstone has their own garbage can and recycling bin. But I've been told that everyone is VERY protective of their bins. God help you if you put your trash in someone else's bin. Well this does not sit well with me.
I'm used to Manhattan, where you just throw everything out on whatever corner you want.
So, when I walk in Brooklyn along brownstone streets, I purposely throw paper or cans in random people's bins. I know they will freak, and I get the feeling that they are watching 24 hours a day from behind their shades.

Enjoyed hearing about Scotland. It brought me back to my week-long visit there years ago. The places I remember - Isle of Skye, Orkney Islands, Edinburgh and BritRail going between these places.

(sung to the tune of Mighty Mouse)
Bum bum-pa bump bump bump

Has anybody counted the exclamation points? 19. (and 2 periods). We scored 90.5% on the punctuation scale. I take it that Mom really enjoyed herself! Next time I'm going all out. I want 100%!

Note that the symbol in the lower right of the MacNeil coat of arms is a red "bloody" hand. I've seen it with drops of blood falling off. Here's the story as I found it on a web page:

The legend of the bloody hand in the MacNeil(McNeil, etc.) coat of arms, according to my ancestors is that when a "king" of Scotland way back when was bringing a boat of soldiers to capture the Isle of Barra, he promised that the first one of the soldiers to touch the Island, would be granted ownership of the island for his own clan. A McNeil happened to be toward the read of the boat, but he sure wanted that island, so when they neared the shore, he put his left hand on the gunwale, pulled out his sword and whacked off his hand and threw it on the shore. The "king" kept his word, and Barra has been McNeil (etc.) ever since.

I had heard from my father (1960's) that it was a rowboat race between MacNeil and MacDonald for ownership of the island. MacDonald was about to win so MacNeil cut his hand off and threw it onto the island to win. What a heritage.

I think that Tiffany's list of best things really goes: 1) Friends 2) Family 3) Friends of Family. So after Family the next best thing is Friends of Family. But where does Family of Friends fit in? Some of my Friends have great Family.

Bumskis, carbadoodles (for carbs), starbs & carbs (shortish for starbucks), biznotch, putting L's in words, like we call me Black Belinda which turned into Black Blelinda. It's hilarous when it's said out loud: TLiffany. BlRooke... Solid, bumblef***, whatevs...ok I'll think of more later. Keep wowing your co-workers!!!

Correction my dear - It was Zeus (not Appollo) that determined the center of the earth and planted the omphalos stone. He sent birds to each end of the earth and had them fly towards each other - then he dropped the stone where they met. He of course compensated for the speed differential between the birds, for the wind and also for the fact the one of the birds had a tendency to bend right when it would try to fly in a straight line. You see, determining the center of the earth required precision, and Zeus delivered.

Yay!!! Finally, a Greece blog!! The pictures are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I cannot wait to go. By the way, I hope Caton's birthday either already passed or that she doesn't read this because now she knows that Mark got her jewelry! Way to ruin the surprise. Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip and the rest of the food you ate. I love feta and olives....yum!

Tiff, you totally got me hooked on the Cadburry Mini Eggs. I've already had 2 or 3 bags of them (didn't eat them myself though) and Easter is still a month away! You got me hooked last year, and since then I haven't stopped thinking about them and have probably gained 20 pounds because of you. THANKS!! Oh, and thanks for finally blogging. I've missed the blogs.

Todd, well done! Welcome to the elite group of Guest Bloggers! Really enjoyed your blog! I also agree that the air mattress is quite comfy (except for the one morning Melinda and I woke up on the floor because we didn't close the valve properly), and one of the many reasons to visit T-Bone and A-Rod. Side note- I had another Andy sighting, well sorta. Can't remember if I told you guys that I once met Asian Andy which was what I thought Andy would look like if he were Asian, well the new season of Survivor started and I've decided that Dan (the Astronaut) is Older Andy. He reminded me so much of someone and then I thought "Oh, it's Andy!". He's a really great guy, and not nerdy, and he I think he looks like Andy in 25 years (or so). You should check him out on the Survivor website.

Thanks for informing me about Doughnut Day!! I'm giving up soda for Lent. Yes, I know I'm Jewish, but why not take part in the festivities and try to give up something I was already trying to give up. (Not that I'm a big soda drinker, but I'm trying to limit myself). I hope you have a great time in Greece!

Right now I'm on the John Lewis website checking out duvet covers. I'm reading a Jane Green book (and it talks about living in Belsize Park and Hampstead- made me think of you and Caton)and she just went shopping at John Lewis. I stopped and thought "that's the place I wanted to go shopping!". Well, now I'm checking out all the stuff on the website. Very cute. Oh, Melinda finally gave me the chocolate you guys bought me, THANK YOU!!! At quiz night the other night we were starving and whipped it out, and sure enough it was a HUGE hit and pretty much almost gone by the time the night was over. Thanks again! I miss you guys!!!

Yes, it's all about having good blog material.
I'm impressed with your use of the word - "prolificacy." I had never seen that word before.
And in my opinion, don't ever use recycled paper towels. Eco is good but not that way. I swear by Bounty paper towels.

Aww thanks for posting those pictures of us! I can attest to the hottness of Kermy and Toby in their new bling, they're showing all those cats over there how the American's strut their stuff. I really wish you'd get a hit counter on your website. After we sent a link to your blog in our evite the other day, I'm sure you have at least 10 more people checking out your blog. I miss you guys! Tell Kermy to behave herself, did you ever get them a scratching post??

In the first comment for the previous blog entry I called upon the readers to leave a comment so that Tiffany and Andy would know that they have more than 7 - 10 readers. Right now there are five comments and the count hasn't grown lately. One of the comments was Tiffany asking about the "new format" so that means only four comments were from readers. Hmmmm. Maybe this blog has a lot of readers who do not read or post comments. 8-)

Per the "new format" question last time: when I originally read the posting, it was in an all-text format. By the time I submitted my comment, it hand returned to normal. Maybe your provider was doing maintenance?

So proud that you mentioned the eczema! I know you were torn on whether to let all the readers know about your skin condition, but you did it very tastefully! So the aerobed is staying inflated? Melinda and I were afraid that due to all the food we consumed over there we might have popped a hole in your aerobed. Well, have a nice sleepover tonight.

I believe we once hit double-digits on comments, but they weren't each from a separate person.

Is the new format permanent?

I check you blog several times a day for new material. I even did that while you were in the USA. I remind my family and friends often about your blog. What a great way to stay informed. I has made your extended trip to Europe much more bearable. Grrrr!!!! I suspect that you have a few more readers than you suspect. How about a whole hearted show of support from the readers. If you go as far as to read the comments, leave a comment here and now! How high will the count go?

Patrick, your apologies are accepted!

Tiffany, one more thing- I was reading the Post yesterday on my way home from work and I came across something interesting...According to BRITISH psychologist Dr. Cliff Arnall, January 24th (yesterday) is "the most depressing day of the year due to an array of emotional and stress factors including LACK OF LIGHT, bad weather, and increased debt....". This further justifies your need for sunlight.

Mea culpa. Many apologies. My bad.

I did read your second installment, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

After the first installment, though, I felt I couldn't comment on it without grading it, and I just didn't have time to do your effort justice.

Again, so sorry. Please forgive me.

Three things....Tiffany, we couldn't have been more proud of you at that very moment when you yelled at the woman. I watched the whole thing go down, and you might have over-reacted a bit about it, but she was a B and needed to know it. Next time though, make sure you are wearing your Canadian flag sweatshirt when you decide to yell like that(I still think that one was funny, so I thought I'd use it again). Second thing, I know what you mean about the sunlight, I think the same thing everyday around 4:30 when I look out the window. That was actually one of the hardest things for me when I moved to New York, having less sunlight. Third thing, but this one is for Patrick--- did you not read our second blog? We clearly gave you and Whitey a shoutout and you didn't even have the decency to thank us!!

You're being ridiculous. Even though there were open turnstyles to each side of you, this ugly, nasty woman decided to push right by you (and your noticeably large, red suitcase) to go through YOUR tube turnstyle-thing. She cut you off but you still sincerely apologized for her bumping into you (even though none of this was your fault). She threw a hissy fit anyway and so you were right to call her out. Good for you. I hope she felt like an idiot.

I just wanted to brag about the tie breaker question that I got right at the pub quiz. The question was "how many people voted for the labour party in 2005" I was within half a million people. The next closest answer was off by 5million! (9 million voted for labour).

Okay Patrick time to get out your red pen and smiley stickers. Hit me with the numbers!

Well, I don't know Melinda and Brooke, so I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to grade their entry. Then again, inappropriate has never stopped me before, so:

Overall, very good effort. Humorous, informative, and most importantly, CONCISE (take note, Fro).

+2 for sly "Mind the gap" reference
+3 for not misspelling "TV"
-2 for not explaining how you went from being "sent back to the States this afternoon" to on your merry way
-2 for using the possessive "McNeil's" instead of the plural "McNeils" at the end of the second paragraph
+4 for no pictures of Fro.

Overall score: 105. In other words, they schooled you, Fro.

Wow! A whole post about a night with me and induction into the Comments Hall of Fame, all at once. If you weren't five hours in the future and married to my friend, I'd kiss you, Tiffany.

What? What?!? Not even a mention of our open-mic circuit? For shame, Tiffany! For shame!

Is this comment a record for the most sentences with no periods?

The cats feel right at home at our house. Months ago I pointed this out to Andy and suggested that he just leave them in Easton, PA for a couple years. BTW: We are not really going BONKERS. It's something any good parents would do. And besides, the cats were VERY well behaved at the Vet's for two whole hours.

Perhaps the beep is a CO detector with a bad battery locked in the basement without any way to get to it. I suggest you wait a few weeks and check it out.

A few corrections & additions...

1) He played All of Me, not At Last.
2) All player pianos (until very recently) ran on suction. The more modern ones use an electric pump instead of foot pedals.
3) At first they punched the scrolls by hand, just took the score and made them, hence the need for an expression line to tell you how to adjust tempo & volume during the piece. Later they created the machine that "recorded" pianists. At the same time that they added marginal perforations to automatically adjust volume (tempo was in the recording, the roll moved at constant speed when recorded and played back).
4) He also had two early model Edison gramophones so we could here the only available alternative to music reproduction at the time. They sounded pretty bad. One of the gramophones used the wax cylinder "records" (these predated the disk shaped ones, and were very short lived).

I wonder if we were in the same museum...

Yeah, Whitey, I'll bet you loved Amsterdam.

As for Lukey, bring it on. I know the Eagles were pretty crappy this season, and I forecast another several years of crappiness, but I'm interested that you took enough time to develop the 7 levels of suckdome, so bring it - let's here 'em.

Just a quick correction, cousin: the beer bottle ride sounds fun, not lame. Anne Frank’s house and Piano Bars can be put off until you are retired and trying to spend some of your pension before your kids take it and ship you off to a nursing home. You’re young.

I haven’t seen you for over 2 years now, so this blog is an excellent way for me to stay in the loop. I hope all is well and that you have a super Christmas.

In other news the Philadelphia Eagles suck on 7 different levels, don’t make me name them.

Good point T about too much blogging at work. Brooke definitely does that. But I think we'll let it slide because this is a worthwhile blog. I enjoyed your Amsterdam recap. It brought me back. I went there once, and I'll never forget it. Great place.
And T, if you apply yourself, you can still be a much-loved genius in media research!

Amsterdam was awesome, I thought it was so pretty. You should definitely check out Anne Frank's House, we rented a little paddle boat and went up and down the little canals, it was alot of fun. I hear the Heineken museum is fun, but it was closed when I was there. I went to a sex show, I do recommend it only because it's an experience. Beautiful little city, that's for sure! Have fun!! When exactly are you coming to America? We miss you!

Hey, guys, I've an off-topic question for you: I'm reading a book right now that takes place during the War of 1812 (I believe the British call it "The Temper Tantrum"). In it, the British characters frequently refer to Americans disparagingly as "Cousin Jonathon". So, anyway, my question is, do they still use that term?

See, I think Peter Kay is hilarious. He and that whole cast of that show (is it Comic Relief?) are way better than SNL. SNL hasn't been good in years. The Brits are better at sketch comedy.

A notable recent Simpsons had a scene where some English notable remarked on Americans' lack of appreciation for sophisticated ironic humor-- whereupon she ran off being chased by three bobbies (who were replaced by guerrilas and dogs as she zig zagged across the screen) with a background laugh track and piano music.

Now THAT'S humor.

2 things- when you said you have a new wardrobe, I thought you meant shopping for CLOTHES. So I got really excited to hear you got new clothes, and then got a little disappointed when it was merely a wardrobe closet. I mean I'm happy for you, but I would have been happier if you had gotten new clothes. Second thing, Thanksgiving is on Thursday, not Saturday, you may want to tell Caton and Mark since they seem to be confused. (hehe jk)

So is the reason you've been so bad about blogging lately because you've been working out so much?

Good job at the gym. I wish I was that motivated. I'm going to have to e-mail you a converter program I have at work. That may help you out with this conversion.
