Silly Bugman, Woodlice Like Wood!
First of all, we are just fine and very grateful to all of you who sent your kind wishes. Times like these remind us how lucky we are to be loved.
Annnnyway, about the bugs. I have officially decided that the bugman was WRONG. These are not woodlice. Woodlice are brown or grey and they curl up into a ball when you scare them. These little fellas are black, they do not curl up, and they - on rare occasion - fly. According to a knowledgeable source, “I’ve never seen a woodlouse wot flies.” SO, I did some research, as I am prone to do, and I have found our bug. It’s a carpet beetle. This makes sense, considering that with all of the wood in our flat, the supposed WOODlice are really only on the carpet. Here’s a picture if you want to be grossed out: Carpet Beetle. This particular variety of carpet beetle is known as a Fur Beetle (Attagenus pellio, family Dermestidae), has a length of 4-6 mm, and according to the website, is found in houses and stores, living in animal skins, furs, CARPETS, old blankets, dry food stuffs, etc. So, what the HECK was the bugman doing telling me these were WOODLICE?! For those that requested a bug update, now called bupdate because that makes me laugh, they are most certainly not GONE, per se, but most of the ones I find are kaput. We shall have to see how the case develops. . .
In other news, I most definitely called my parents a 4:45 AM their time this morning. I just thought, “I’ll call mom & dad now, because I bet I can get through.” (see, I couldn’t get through yesterday. . .) Oops. I knew it after two rings, but then I didn’t want to hang up because I didn’t want them to be worried or something, so my poor sleeping mom picks up and I say, “I’m sorry.” She laughed and ended up chatting with me for a bit anyway, so that was lovely. Now I officially can’t ever be mad at anyone for calling me at the wrong time.
News: We’re off to visit my grandfather on the Isle of Wight this weekend, so I’m afraid you’ll be blogless for a few days. . .
